THE SITUATION
Treatment is the beginning, not the end
Sober Services launched Sober Aftercare as an extension to residential treatment, with the intention of providing our clients a much deeper level of support and follow-on care than regular aftercare recommendations.
The minimum period of Sober Aftercare is 6 months, although 12 months is recommended and in many cases 18 or 24 months are employed. The programme gives responsibility back to the client while holding them accountable for their own recovery progress.
Sober Aftercare doesn’t only benefit the participating individual — it also offers support and assurance to their family, loved ones, support network and work environment where applicable. We take care of the worrying, while impressing upon the client the importance of taking responsibility for themselves.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
What’s included
Random & regular drug testing
Objective accountability — with results reported to the agreed support network.
12-step meeting attendance
Documented attendance at 12-step meetings as part of the programme structure.
Professional appointments
Meetings with a therapist, counsellor or psychiatrist, plus attendance at pre-arranged rehab aftercare or outpatient services.
Progress reporting
Disclosure of recovery progress to family, treatment providers and employers where appropriate — including screening results and attendance documentation.
Case management
An optional, more intensive level of care post-residential treatment, with qualified staff supporting client and family alike.
Immediate issue handling
When issues arise, we deal with them effectively and immediately — alleviating the burden on family members.

We agree the length (6–24 months), the testing regime and who receives progress reports.
Contact & monitoring
Regular contact, random screening and documented meeting attendance keep recovery on track.
Accountability
The client owns their recovery — we hold the structure around them.
Step down & graduate
Support tapers as independence grows, with the family reassured at every stage.
